It was the year 1979, when a Namco employee by the name of Toru Iwatani, had noticed a pizza missing a slice. The shape of that pizza had inspired the design of Pacman and a year later, the game was launched! It was a smash in North America during the 80s and has since then, generated a myriad of merchandise from portable home versions of the game to lunch boxes…and even a hit song!
May 22nd, 2010 marked the 30th Anniversary of the video game world’s most popular icon, Pacman and Google had a hand in the celebration by posting a miniature version of the game on their front page from May 21–23, 2010. Pacman is no longer featured on Google’s main page but it doesn’t mean that it has disappeared completely. To keep celebrating this video game legend, we have posted the game to LW’s World of Popculture Goodies, so that when you’ve finished reading the latest news, you’ll always have something to do here!
