The LW Crew had the chance to speak with one of the producers for the third installment of the popular Dance Central Franchise.
According to him, we can certainly expect some new and improved features from Dance Central 3!
For starters, the theme of this particular sequel has plenty to do with time travel so expect to be jammin’ to the hits from the past four decades along with some current chart toppers.
Meanwhle, there’s no doubt that your competitive spirit will surface so take advantage of the new mode, “Crew Throwdown”! In this mode, players can put together two teams consisting of up to four players. These teams will be capable of competing against one another in a series of “Battles” and mini-games to vie for the title of “…the hottest crew on the dance floor!” Dancers can also earn points by displaying the rhythm of their movements through the freeform mini-game, “Keep the Beat.” And when you’ve got the urge to show off your own set of original moves, “Make Your Move” will challenge the dancer to not only choreograph their own routines on the spot but let other dancers see if they can master that same routine.
But what about the music? Come on, that’s one of the major draws of the game! Oh don’t worry your pretty little head as this sequel’s got more than 40 songs on its roster! In addition, players will be able to import songs from the original Dance Central and Dance Central 2. And with the Music Store that’s merged within the game, players will be capable of adding more songs to their current libraries which brings us to more than 140 songs and dance routines!
Now for the MAJOR attraction of the game…the dance moves! What would the game be without it? Not only will players be moving to some of the freshest dance routines of this decade but they’ll be grooving to some moves from the past decades like “The Hustle,” “Electric Slide” and “The Dougie” just to name a few! Thanks to Harmonix’ own team of professional choreographers, you’ll be learning some authentic moves created for all skill levels. Also, with the game’s “Rehearse” practice mode, players will be able to learn the choreography step by step.
Ah! But which crew will you be a part of? Dance Central 3 has the return of the dopest crews around along with an entirely new crew that consists of agents who call themselves “Dance Central Intelligence” or rather ”DCI” for short. So far, the confirmed returning crews consists of: Riptide, Hi-Def, Flash4wrd and Lu$h…..and yes…for those who were wondering, this means the return of our favorite ginger socialite, Ms. Aubrey!
At this point, one would think that we’ve got all of the bases covered but there’s one other familiar feature from the previous game that got a major upgrade! Dance Central 2′s voice navigation is included in this sequel but now players will be able to utilize voice commands for nearly every selectable menu option in the game! Instead of just manually going through the menu to select a song choice, just shout out the song title and watch it appear on the screen quickly!
But enough of that! Let’s move on to the confirmed tracks announced at this year’s E3:
50 Cent – “In Da Club”
Cali Swag District – “Teach Me How to Dougie”
Cobra Starship ft. Sabi – “You Make Me Feel …”
E.U. – “Da’ Butt”
Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina – “Stereo Love”
Gloria Gaynor – “I Will Survive”
Marcia Griffiths – “Electric Boogie”
Usher ft. Will.I.Am – “OMG”
Usher – “Scream”
Van McCoy – “The Hustle
And Many More to come!….
Stay tuned for more Dance Central 3 updates!
